Umbigo Space

Concept and Process

Umbigo Space is an evolving ecosystem that brings together four interconnected platforms: On-Going, featuring articles, interviews, open calls, agenda items, and reviews; Post-Digital, a dedicated section for artistic and curatorial projects designed for the digital medium, as well as essays and interviews exploring the societal, political, and artistic implications of the digital turn; Shop, the online store offering the full Umbigo Magazine archive, including all past editions; and Umbigo LAB, which, while maintaining its own platform, is integrated into Umbigo Space, dynamically displaying the latest updates on the homepage.

The project was approached as a comprehensive rebranding and design investigation, aiming to deliver a timeless, contemporary, and highly legible visual language. Emphasis was placed on creating a platform that is fully responsive, intuitive, and reflective of Umbigo's current identity, allowing users to navigate seamlessly across its diverse content and functionalities.

Each section was carefully considered to highlight its unique content type while maintaining a cohesive ecosystem. The interface balances clarity and visual interest, guiding users through a wide range of material - from research and critical writing to artistic projects and archival content - in a way that encourages exploration and engagement.

The redesign also focused on modularity and flexibility, supporting the continuous growth of Umbigo Space and adapting to future expansions, ensuring that the platform remains as dynamic and evolving as the artistic and editorial community it serves.
